Colt out of Lady Frankel sells to Godolphin in Deauville
The last yearling by Darley's late sire Shamardal (Giant's Causeway) topped the opening session of the Arqana August Yearling Sale in Deauville on Saturday when bought for €1.6 million by Godolphin.
Sold by Gestut Ammerland as Lot 21, the colt is the second foal out of the Group 3 winner and Group 1 placed Frankel (Galileo) mare Lady Frankel. The colt's second dam is Lady Vettori (Vettori), the dam of nine winners headed by Group 1 winning stallion Lope De Vega (Shamardal).
"He's a lovely colt that walks well. He is by Shamardal, a fantastic stallion that we have had a lot of success with," said purchase Anthony Stroud.
"He comes from a great family and a stud that doesn't need to prove itself. We're very happy."
