A colt by Juddmonte Farm's Kingman (Invincible Spirit) was the most expensive lot sold during the one-day BBAG September Yearling Sale in Baden-Baden on Friday when bought by Solis / Litt for €450,000.

The sole lot by Kingman in the sale and catalogue as Lot 62 from Gestut Fahrhof, the colt is out of the Listed winning Dansili (Danehill) mare Sarandia who is herself a half-sister to the stakes winners Saphir (Black Sam Bellamy) and Saint Pellerin (Konigstiger).

Who will train the colt remains to be decided, however, purchase Jason Litt was delighted to secure the son of Kingman.

"It's my first trip to Baden Baden and I am really happy right now, we got the one we wanted," he said.

"We came here to buy what we thought was the best horse in the sale and we think he is so I'm pretty happy."

Seven lots sold for over €200,000 this year and the second most expensive lot of the sale was a son of Darley's Night Of Thunder (Dubai) who was purchased by German owner Jurgen Sartori for €325,000.

Sold as Lot 156, again by Gestut Fahrhof, the colt is the first foal out of Listed winning Maxios (Monsun) mar Realeza who is herself a daughter of the 2002 German Champion 2YO filly Royal Dubai (Dashing Blade).

Other notable lots sold on Friday include a filly by Frankel (Galileo) who was bought for €250,000 by BBA Ireland and Yulong Investments while a son of Sea The Stars (Cape Cross) also sold for that same price to Ronal Rauscher.

Gestüt Fahrhof finished the sale as the leading vendor having sold 12 lots for €1,420,000 at an average of €118,333. HFTB Racing Agency meanwhile was the leading buyer, purchasing 11 yearlings for €568,000.

Sea The Stars (Cape Cross) was the leading sire by average (3 or more lots sold) with the four lots sold by the sire averaging €166,250.

During Friday's sale 157 of the 204 yearlings offered sold for a record turnover of €8,361,500, with that figure up 24 per cent on last year's. The average meanwhile rose 24 per cent to €53,258 from a year ago and the median was up 25 per cent to €53,752, compared to the 2021 figure. However, neither the median or average matched the sale's record figures recorded in 2019.
