A filly by Widden Stud's reverse shuttler Zoustar (Northern Meteor) topped the Tattersalls Somerville Yearling Sale on Tuesday when bought for 160,000gns by trainer Richard Hughes.

One of four lots to sell for six figures during the one-day sale, the filly was offered by Plantation Stud as Lot 213, and is out of the placed Fastnet Rock (Danehill) mare Fast Lily who is the dam of stakes winning colt Unanimous Consent (Almanzor).

Hughes said: "I loved her from the time I seen her, she will take a bit of time. We will see how the brother gets on tonight, if he wins she will be half-price! He is probably a 115 horse. This filly is very nice, good walker and has very good movement."

Plantation's stud manager James Berney said: "We are over the moon, she deserves to make that type of money, she is a beauty. She has improved greatly through the year, and her brother's form has helped as well.

"She has been A1 since she got her, she has been very busy, she has had a lot of vets on her and she has never turned a hair. We are delighted she is going to Richard Hughes and am pleased for the mare. She has got a Showcasing foal at foot and she is in-foal to Pinatubo."

Plantation brought two lots to the sale and earlier sold its Shalaa (Invincible Spirit) colt (Lot 188) to Oliver St Lawrence for 120,000gns. The colt is out of the winning Dream Ahead (Diktat) mare Dreama Dana, herself a daughter of the Group 3 winner Lidanna (Nicholas).

The other lots to make over 100,000gns were a colt by Mehmas (Acclamation) who was bought by Peter & Ross Doyle Bloodstock and Aguiar Bloodstock for 135,000gns and a son of Starspangledbanner (Choisir) who made 130,000gns when sold to Richard Ryan.

During the one-day sale 255 lots sold for 7,746,200gns compared to the inaugural sale in 2021 when 232 lots sold for 4,952,000gns. The median was up 60 per cent from 16,250gns to 26,000gns while the average jumped 42 per cent to 30,377gns from 21,345gns.

Tally-Ho Stud finished the sale as the leading vendor by aggregate while Oliver St Lawrence Bloodstock was the leading buyer.
