A colt by Swettenham Stud shuttler Toronado (High Chaparral) topped day one of the inaugural Arqana September Yearling Sale on Thursday when bought for €120,000 by Pauline Chehboub of Yellow Agency.

The colt was the sole lot to sell for six figures during day one of the sale. Sold by Fairway Consignment as Lot 34, he is out of the winning mare Loumaxaye (Hold That Tiger), further back this is the family of Australian Group 1 winner Aqua d'Amore (Encosta De Lago). The pedigree received a timely update with the colt's half-brother, Hayejohn (Jonny Barnes), winning at Listed level at Vichy since the catalogue was published.

During Thursday's opening session 101 of the 141 yearlings offered sold for €2,113,000, producing a clearance rate of 72 per cent. The average was €20,921, while the median finished at €15,000.
