A Curlin (Smart Strike) half-brother to Justify (Scat Daddy) sold for US$1.2 million to Hideyuki Mori during the opening session of the Keenaland September Yearling Sale on Monday.

Sold by the Gunther's Glennwood Farm as Lot 60, the colt is out of the Graded placed mare Stage Magic (Ghostzapper) who, in addition to Coolmore's Triple Crown winning sire Justify, is also the dam of the Graded winning colt The Lieutenant (Smart Strike).

John Gunther, who owns Glenwood Farm with his daughter Tanya, bred the colt who was foaled at the property on May 19 last year. Glenwood also offered Justify at the 2016 Keeneland September Yearling Sale when he was bought by China Horse Club and Maverick Racing for US$700,000.

Justify's first northern hemisphere-bred crops are juveniles this year and includes the stakes winners Statuette, Aspen Grove and Just Cindy. He has shuttled to Coolmore Australia for the last three years but is being rested from shuttling duties in 2022.
