After a 1/50th share in the Aga Khan Stud's young sire Zarak (Dubawi) sold during the Arqana Online sale earlier this week, another 1/50th share was offered in the Tattersalls Online Sale on Thursday. Abdullah Saeed Almaddah, owner of breeding operation Marbat LLC, went to €410,000 to secure the share on Arqana Online and it was Blandford Bloodstock on behalf of Chasemore Farm who secured the share on Tattersalls Online, going to 350,000gns.

A Group 1 winning son of sire of sires in Dubawi (Dubai Millennium), Zarak has made a strong start to his stallion career with his leading performers being the Group winners Purplepay, Sirjan, Baiykara, Lavello and Lizaid. He was the leading second crop sire in France by winners last year and his fee has risen from €25,000 last year to €65,000 in 2023.

"I'm delighted to have secured the share in Zarak on behalf of Chasemore Farm," said Tom Goff of Blandford Bloodstock.

"Andrew and Jane Black have a number of mares that they would like to send to France to be covered by Zarakover the next few seasons so, after some discussion, the decision was to give it a go.

"The sire has done tremendously well so far.  At 11% stakes winners to runners and 68% winners to runners to date, his statistics sit comfortably with Dubawi's other successful sons Night Of Thunder and New Bay at the same stage. In addition to his stakes winners, Zarak has also sired La Parisienne, who was second in the Prix de Diane, so I'm sure it's only a matter of time before he sires his first Group 1 winner.

"The fact that he is managed by Georges Rimaud at Haras de Bonneval is another massive plus for me personally.  We have first-hand experience of their stallion syndicates - they are absolutely blue chip and are exceptionally well managed."

The sale saw 31 of the 67 lots catalogued sell for a total of 656,500gns at an average of 21,177gns and median of 2,600gns.

One further lot sold for six figures with a breeding right in Whitsbury Manor Stud's Havana Grey (Havana Gold) selling to Heather Raw for 105,000gns.

Other breeding rights to sell include one to Darley's Harry Angel (Dark Angel) which was bought by Stephen HIllen for 30,000gns, while a breeding right to Time Test (Dubawi) made 32,000gns when bought by Web Bloodstock.
