Winning Galileo (Sadler's Wells) mare Rasmiya topped the second and final day of the Arqana February Mixed Sale on Wednesday, when she was bought by BBA Ireland for €315,000. Offered in foal to Mehmas (Acclamation), the mare is already the dam of Listed winner Jouza (Toronado).

Sold by Haras de Bouquetot, Rasmiya is a half-sister to ten winners including the Group winning pair Above Average (High Chaparral) and Sent From Heaven (Footstepsinthesand).

"She's a very nice mare," said Michael Donohoe of BBA Ireland. "She'll first go to Ireland and have her foal, and then we'll decide afterwards which stallion she'll be covered by. She's been bought for one of our clients."

Earlier in the day BBA Ireland also signed for unraced four-year-old mare Zerziyna (Fastnet Rock). Sold by the Aga Khan Studs for €200,000, the daughter of Fastnet Rock (Danehill) is a half-sister to Listed winner Zeyrek (Sea The Stars), while her second dam is multiple Group 1 winner Zarkava (Zamindar), dam of leading young sire Zarak (Dubawi).

"We've bought her for an Irish client. We're very happy – she's a lovely filly from a great family. She'll be covered by Lucky Vega," said BBA Ireland's Eamon Reilly.

Over the two days 246 of the 307 lots offered sold for €3,807,000. With 17 per cent fewer horses offered this year compared to last year, the aggregate fell 5.5 per cent from €4,029,000 a year ago. The average rose 15 per cent from €13,475 to €15,476. The median rose slightly, from €6,000 last year to €6,500.
