Impeccably-bred stallion Polarmore will be a new addition to the sire ranks on the NSW north coast this year.

He will stand at Oxley Island Thoroughbreds in the Manning River Valley near Taree.

Polarmore is by world class sire of sires More Than Ready (Southern Halo) from the Golden Slipper Stakes winner Polar Success (Success Express x Pateau, by Covetous).

Covetous is by Golden Slipper winner Luskin Star which means Polarmore carries the genes that produced Sebring, the 2008 Golden Slipper winner and now a leading sire.

Sebring is by More Than Ready and from Purespeed, by Danehill’s Golden Slipper winner Flying Spur from a daughter of Luskin Star.

A major difference between Sebring and Polarmore is that the latter is free of Danehill. Outcrossing to Danehill using More Than Ready as the sire has resulted in over 160 winners.

A brother to Sydney winner Lockroy and a half-brother to stakes placed Giant’s Causeay filly Polaway, Polarmore cost $500,000 as yearling.

His dam Polar Success was sold in Sydney as a broodmare in 2009 for $1.2 million. Polar Success is one of eight winners from Patou, a half-sister to the dams of Bring Me The Maid (Sebring) and Ain’t Seen Nothin’ (Nothin’ Leica Dane).

Ain’t Seen Nothin’ is the dam of three stakes winners including Singapore champion Stepitup (Hussonet).

Polarmore’s third dam Polar Maid is a half-sister to Olympic Aim, the grandam of champion racehorses and sires Elvstroem (Danehill) and Haradasun (Fusaichi Pegasus) and the third dam of international sprinter and dual hemisphere sire Starspangledbanner (Choisir).

Polarmore ran only five times for a Randwick win and Canterbury placing.

He will stand at Oxley Island Thoroughbreds with Direct Charge, a son of Charge Forward from the Redoute’s Choice mare Lady Of Choice.

Lady Of Choice is a half-sister to six winners, including G2 winner Burrito from Enchilada, an American winner by the celebrated Alydar.

Enchilada is a three-quarter sister to Clear Choice, an American G1 winner and sire of stakes winners from use in Australia.

Direct Charge raced seven times for a win in the historic Maribyrnong Plate at Flemington and a third in the Inglis Classic at Rosehill.

Direct Charge was test bred to a handful of mares last season.

Oxley Island also stood Home On The Grange, a son of Danehill whose progeny have included the home bred filly Danesiri, a winner of seven races up to G3 level, Island Dane (13 wins) and Rodeo Playboy (7 wins).
