Crackerjack King Goes Public at Wyndholm Park

3 minute read

Imported Group One winner Crackerjack King will stand at Wyndholm Park Stud in Victoria for public use this spring after standing by private arrangement in 2015.

The decision makes Crackerjack King the only G1 winning son of champion sire Shamardal available to Australasian breeders in 2016.

Crackerjack King was a Listed winner as a two-year-old and trained on to be a classic winner at three, a G1 winner at four and mix it with some of the best in England, America and Australia as an open age horse.

Trained by Stefano Botti in Italy Crackerjack King won the Listed Premio Campbello as a late two-year-old before wining the G2 Itralian Derby at three, beating the eventual Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe winner of the same season Danedream.

Purchased by Australian Thoroughbred Bloodstock, he won the G1 Premio Presidente Della Repubblica at four before he was transferred to the Newmarket yard of Marco Botti where he embarked on an international campaign before he was sent to Australia to prepare for a Cox Plate bid under the training of David Hayes.

However after a placing in the G1 Underwood Stakes he suffered an injury in the G1 Caulfied Stakes and was retired.

Shamardal has been responsible for 17 individual G1 winners in seven countries while Crackerjack King’s dam Claba di San Jore was voted among the top 50 great modern day broodmares by the Racing Post in 2014.

Her stud record is outstanding, producing five individual stakes winners including G1 winners Jakkalberry, Awelmarduk and Crackerjack King.

The stakes winner and Crackerjack King’s full sister Joyful Hope and the stakes placed Freezy, a dual stakes producer, are also under her name on the pedigree page.

Crackerjack King is free of Danehill blood and with Mr Prospector, Sadlers Wells and Storm Cat no closer than his third generation the vast majority of the Australian broodmare population will blend well with the young stallion.

Chris Blomeley of CB Bloodstock brokered the deal on behalf of Wyndholm Park Stud to stand Crackerjack King.

“He truly was an elite international horse. He is a big strapping grey with plenty of quality and has a near unmatchable pedigree,” Blomeley said.

Crackerjack King will be standing at $6000 + GST.
