Australian Harness Racing Preview – 6th January 2024

3 minute read

High class mare Queen Elida looks beautifully placed to make a winning return to Victoria when she lines up in Saturday night’s Maori Mile for the trotters at Bendigo.

Queen Elida raced well through the Inter Dominion series in Brisbane, finishing top-two in each of her heats including a round three win before a brave third in the final.

She has been freshened for the drop to the mile and has won both attempts at the distance.

She can push forward from this draw and looks too classy for these.

Mufasa Metro was consistent through the Inter Dominion series and beat Queen Elida home in the final, taking advantage of his ace draw to lead and stick on for second.

He draws on the back row but should get a nice trail so can be involved in the finish.

Arcee Phoenix is a progressive trotter who has won three of five attempts at this venue and should get the favours from a low draw while Im Ready Jet overcame a second row barrier to find winning form last time out at Melton and must be respected.

The Bendigo Pacing Cup is the other feature on the program and pair of Emma Stewart stablemates could fight it out.

Hurricane Harley has had seven weeks off since he resumed with a fourth against a strong line-up in the Breeders Crown Graduate FFA at this circuit but he goes well when fresh.

He loves it here winning five of seven visits to Bendigo and is drawn to get a nice trail with access to the sprint lane. That could see him hard to hold out.

Beyond Delight is finding it tough to break through but continues to race well, recording his fourth placing from his last five starts when going under by a head last time at Melton.

He is another with a strong record here, landing three wins and a second from four visits. This is his chance to go one better.

Max Delight is going great guns and while he draws the back row he has come from there in winning his last two outings.

He must rate highly again while Serg Blanco has been solid from back row draws in his last two outings and won his previous two so should get the favours from the ace draw.
