Fresh from a brave first-up performance in Western Australia, Jawsoflincoln is primed to score another feature race win for trainer Justin Prentice and driver Gary Hall Jnr at Gloucester Park tonight.

The five-year-old heads into tonight's Nights Of Thunder Final (1730m) off the back of finishing sixth to Rumour Has It in last week's heat, where he was forced to sit three-wide throughout.

Despite being beaten 8.5m, Jawsoflincoln ran a fast enough time to qualify for the $50,000 final.

Justin Prentice said there was nothing to suggest Jawsoflincoln had taken any ill-effects from last week's run.

"He went super," Prentice told The Trots WA.

"Obviously it wasn't ideal to have to do that first-up, but he's come through it well.

"He felt good on Wednesday morning, and he seems to have bounced out of it.

"Everything leading up to this suggests he's good to go."

The son of Art Major will have another tricky assignment in front of him tonight, where he will start from barrier six.

Key rivals Chal Patch, All Is Well and Rumour Has It have drawn favourably in barrier one, two and three respectively.

Prentice said he wasn't sure how to go about overcoming the draw.

"I'll leave it to G E Hall Jnr," he said.

"I didn't know what to do last week and I'm not sure what to do this week either.

"Junior has had a sit behind him now though, so he would've learnt more about him.

"He's going to need luck to be a winning chance."

Jawsoflincoln recorded 16 wins and eight placings from 36 starts prior to joining Prentice's stable, including a South Australian Derby.

Prentice said he had been encouraged by what he'd seen so far from Jawsoflincoln and felt he could progress to open class company.

"I really like him," he said.

"I think he's a nice horse to work with, given he's a stallion.

"I watched a few videos of what he did over there and on the times he was running I thought he was worth giving a go."

"Hopefully he can measure up over here, he certainly would on his work at home."

Meanwhile, Prentice has stable stars Mighty Ronaldo, Tricky Miki and Never Ending poised to return to the track over the coming weeks.

Mighty Ronaldo is set to return to racing in the next fortnight, with Tricky Miki and Never Ending to follow suit soon after.

Prentice said he would give Never Ending every possible chance to secure a slot in April's TABtouch-Nullarbor.
