Harness Racing New South Wales (HRNSW) is pleased to announce the introduction of the HRNSW Industry Scholarship Fund, a significant initiative aimed at attracting and retaining talented individuals to key positions within the harness racing industry in the state.
The HRNSW Industry Scholarship Fund is a key action contained within HRNSW'S Strategic Plan, reflecting the commitment to fostering talent and innovation within the harness racing community.
Over the years, the landscape of the industry has evolved, presenting new challenges and opportunities.
One such challenge has been the recruitment and retention of skilled professionals in crucial roles such as Stewards, Veterinarians, Track Maintenance, Club managers and administrators and other essential vocations
This challenge is shared across all codes of racing, posing a risk to the sustainability and growth of the industry.
In response, HRNSW has been working alongside education stakeholders to forge partnerships that enhance funding opportunities and promote career opportunities.
Through these collaborations, HRNSW has identified opportunities to attract new participants but also potentially upskill individuals currently involved in the industry that have a desire to formalise their qualifications and or undertake tertiary studies.
These opportunities are also extended to individuals from diverse backgrounds and provide them with the necessary support and resources to pursue careers within the industry.
The scholarship initiatives will offer a range of benefits to recipients, including coverage of tertiary fees, HECS fees, uniform fees, study time and subsidised stable rent at the HRNSW Training Centre according to HRNSW Chief Executive Peter Buckman.
"By alleviating financial barriers and providing comprehensive support, we aim to empower scholarship recipients to pursue rewarding career pathways within our industry," said Buckman."By investing in the next generation of industry professionals, we are not only securing the future of our sport but also fostering a culture of excellence and innovation within our ranks."
