Australian Harness Racing Preview – 23rd March 2024

3 minute read

Talented pacer Hot And Treacherous can continue with his return to form when he lines up in the Garrards Free For All at Menangle on Saturday night.

Hot And Treacherous had put his hand up as a potential Miracle Mile contender when he won his first outing for Jason Grimson last month but things didn't go to plan in two qualifying attempts, breaking in the Newcastle Mie before a midfield finish in the Cordina Sprint.

However he relished a class drop and a good draw to lead throughout for a win a fortnight ago, taking his record at the circuit and distance to two from two.

He draws wider on Saturday but with his confidence back and race fitness on his side he can go right on with the job.

Fire Fox could be a danger. He will find this easier than his last attempt in a Miracle Mile qualifier and his prior form was strong, kicking off his campaign with back-to-back wins at this circuit.

Bondi Lockdown produced a nice effort when runner up to Hot And Treacherous last start and draws inside that rival this time so is a chance to turn the tables while Expensive Ego has been below his best of late but strikes at 50 per cent at this circuit and distance and will be fitter for recent racing so could show more.

There is winning form galore in what is an interesting clash in the Autumn Gift Final in the prior race.

Dougs Platter has relished a class drop in recent outings, scoring back-to-back wins at this circuit since tackling a couple of Chariots Of Fire qualifiers.

He draws just one spot wider than when he scored by 5m last week and is a big chance to land the hat trick.

Golden Bay hasn't missed a place in his last four starts at this circuit, scoring for the second time when leading to get home by 2.4m last week.

He has the speed to take advantage of a draw closer to the pegs so must be a winning chance again.

I Break The Line has been racking up the wins, making it four in a row when coming to town last week. He is building a nice record at this distance and winning form is hard to knock.

Ubetcha Tigerpie is another in the mix having come from this same barrier to score by 3.3m here last week.

At Melton on Saturday night last year's Miracle Mile winner Catch A Wave will attempt to make a winning return off a setback in the Captain Sandy Free For All while classy trotter Queen Elida is gunning for another win against her own sex in the Sumthingaboutmaori Mares Free For All.
