Trainer Ahmed Taiba provided thetrots.com.au with a brief update on his high-profile pacer, who hasn't been seen at the races since his runner-up placing to star rival Catch A Wave in the Breeders Crown Championship on November 18.

The TAB Eureka placegetter, Group 1 winner and Melton track record holder has enjoyed a long break, with Taiba saying he needed time to rest after vets discovered some "bone soreness" in a hind pastern following his most recent campaign.

"They recommended about three months off and he's had a bit more than that. We are just going to go light with him for the next month or six weeks," Taiba said.

"I'm looking for a six-month build-up and then really target those big races we've got here before Christmas."

Captain Ravishing has won nine of his 18 career starts for prizemoney earnings up over $500,000.
