Tabcorp Park Menangle Preview & Best Bets – Saturday, April 13

3 minute read

Nerano will be aiming for back-to-back wins when he lines up in the feature event of the program at Menangle on Saturday night.

Race-by-race preview of Menangle, Saturday April 13.

Race 1: ALLIED EXPRESS PACE

JEWEL MELODY (2) is a quality mare who was far from disgraced when she came from the back row for fifth in the Riverina Championships Final at Wagga last start and is nicely placed in this company. She strikes at 50 per cent at this circuit and distance and will relish the low draw. OUR VINNIE (3) led from wider and faded to midfield last time but the winner has franked the form. Produced a good effort to place from the back row in the Canberra Cup two back and he has the gate speed to take advantage of this draw. Give him another chance. Lightly-raced but progressive pacer NO HEART THROB (8) made it three wins at this circuit and distance from as many starts in Australia when he led and dug deep to score narrowly last time out. He steps up in grade but winning form is hard to knock. OUTSIDE FIGHTER (11) draws wide but is racing well with a string of close-up efforts since a win at this venue so include along with ROCKOKOKO (1) who can do much better from the ace draw.

Race 2: BESTINBEDS.COM.AU PACE

SUPER DUPER DUDE (1) left NZ as a winner at Cambridge and had been trialling impressively but ran into an in-form rival when he kicked off for the Grima yard with a second at this circuit last week. Came from wider there so will relish the ace draw and can atone. GOLDEN BAY (4) was fourth in a handy line-up last start after leading from a wider barrier to score by 2.4m at this circuit two back. His record here is sound. Big chance. UBETCHA TIGERPIE (9) was less than a metre behind Golden Bay last start and won a similar race to this two back. Draws wide but is going well enough to play a role from there. JUST ROLLYOUROWN (6) is suited stepping up to a distance where he has won two of three attempts.

Race 3: HYLAND HARNESS COLOURS PALEFACE BUBBLE PACE

BLUTO (4) is a progressive pacer already making a big impression in Australia. Kicked off for the Hewitt yard with a win from a wider barrier here two starts back then drew the second line and proved too strong along the sprint lane in the Wagga Cup last start. He is unbeaten at the mile so can deliver again. MAJOR PERRY (8) found winning form in this grade here two back then chased the smart pair of Nerano and Hot And Treacherous when third in a stronger race last week. Draws wide but he'll enjoy the class drop. DON LOU (7) steps up in grade and cops a wider draw but his form is hard to knock having won his last two outings here, the latest by more than 10m. STRAVINSKY (2) was a little off his game last week but he is better than that having put together a string of wins and placings prior. Draws well so could bounce back.

Race 4: HAPPY 80TH BIRTHDAY DAVE AWPM LADYSHIP PACE

MY MOONLITE DREAM (2) is a newcomer to the Trainor yard and brings consistent form from New Zealand having put together a series of top-four finishes last time in. Hasn't been seen at the trials but a low draw gives her every chance to kick off in Sydney with a win. MARIA ALLEGONDA (5) is racing well having placed in all four starts since winning at this venue in her local debut. Drew wide and raced deep in a last-start third and chased a handy mare when runner up in this grade two back. Contender. PROMISELAND (1) has come from this barrier when tackling the boys at her last couple and was runner up two back. She is suited back against her own sex. ARDENS DELIGHT (11) draws wide for her return but her form here last time in was strong including a win when last seen in February. Keep her safe along with KENDYS BUTTERFLY (7) who heads north off three successive placings in Victoria, the last two at Melton.

Race 5: ALLCOTT HIRE JOE AND MICHAEL ILSLEY FFA

NERANO (1) progressed off a fresh placing in the Renshaw Cup to unleash a big finishing burst and beat his in-form stablemate Hot And Treacherous by a head at this circuit last week. High class pacer who will be fitter again and should enjoy a soft run. There is some risk of him being locked away from the ace draw but if he gets the gaps he'll be hard to stop. MAX DELIGHT (5) hasn't raced since he beat Nerano in winning the Renshaw Cup at Penrith. That was a tough effort as he drew the back line and worked before finding the one-one. Must rate highly off that. CANTFINDABETTORMAN (3) was nosed out at Bathurst last start but had to race three wide without cover from a back row draw. Came from a wide barrier when third here two back so is better served by this barrier. JAY OK (2) is building in fitness and can do much better from the low draw.

Race 6: PRYDE'S ENERGYPAK DOUBLE AGENT PACE

AMERICAN SPIRIT (9) has been taking on the good three-year-olds of late and comes through the Gold Chalice series at Bathurst where he was runner up in a heat before a midfield finish in the final. The last time he raced here he clocked in fifth in the G1 NSW Derby. Suited back in grade but just needs things to go his way from the wide barrier. ROCKNROLL SLOY (3) is really delivering now with back-to-back wins at Penrith, spanking her rivals for a maiden victory two back and leading throughout last time. She can go forward again from this draw and give a big sight. SNAKESKIN (4) will be hitting peak fitness and looks close to a win after finishing runner up at this circuit in both outings since a spell, missing by just a head last time. TOOLIJOOA BEACH (6) made it two from two at Goulburn on Monday after kicking off his career with a win from a similar barrier at this circuit. Could take the next step.

Race 7: TAB ROCKET GLENFERN TROTTERS MOBILE

CONSTANTINOPLE (9) chased a smart one when runner up in the G1 Hammerhead Trotters Mile two back then took his record at this circuit to nine from 11 when he led from a similar draw and scored by close to 8m last time. Beat many of these rivals there and can do it again. ROYAL DAN (5) kicked off for the Grimson yard with a 37m romp in the Canberra Trotters Cup two back but couldn't match Constantinople when runner up last start. Draws another couple of spots lower than that rival tonight and that gives him some chance to turn the tables. VICTREE HILL (7) has produced two solid efforts since coming from this barrier for a G1 placing in the Trotters Mile. Can feature. FUNKY MONKEY (10) has placed in four of her last five starts, all of them behind Constantinople. First four player as is MAJESTIC TRIO (8) who is back from a let-up but has been kept up to the mark with a trial win.

Race 8: SUMMERTIME PREMIUM POULTRY PACE

Looks a good race for DANGERZONE (2). He hasn't been too far away since placing in a handy line-up at this circuit three starts back. He is aided by a low draw and his best form is good enough to win this. BLACK ONYX (1) is building in fitness and did a better job second-up when he came from the back row at Penrith. He'll relish the ace draw so could be ready to find his good form from last campaign. DARK TERROR (5) produced a cheeky effort when taking on strong company in the Renshaw Cup at Penrith last start. A repeat performance would stack up well in this grade. JOE NIEN (6) is another that will enjoy a class drop and is a player off a placing here three back.

BEST BETS:

Race 3 #4 Bluto – progressive and can maintain the unbeaten record in Australia.

Race 8 #2 Dangerzone – well placed and gets his chance from the low draw.
