Itro demonstrated considerable improvement since switching to mounted company recording a career-best performance in the Class B Prix de Pavilly (2175m) at Vincennes on Tuesday.
The four-year-old took up a handy position in the early stages as Indice Deladou commanded a ten-length lead. Itro headed the chasing pack at the 1000m and began to close on the leader as they passed the 500m marker. Turning into the home straight, Itro was asked to go forward, and he dominated all the way to the line. Jockey Alexandre Abrivard was never under any pressure on the short-priced favourite.
This was the first attempt by Itro over the Vincennes short-course walk-up of 2175m and the colt easily recorded a peak kilometre rating of 1'13"3. He had finished third in the Class A Prix de Bagneres (2700m) in September behind subsequent Group Three winner Iberik de Mongochy. Itro is likely to return to Class A company during the course of the Winter Meeting and the ease of his victory suggests that Group races would be a possible option.
