The Hong Kong Jockey Club purchased six attractive colts from Book 1 of the 2023 Tattersalls October Yearling Sale in Newmarket, Great Britain for a total outlay of GNS2.11 million (approx. HK$21.17 million).
A striking bay colt by Siyouni was the first to fall the Club's way, secured as Lot 26 for GNS450,000. Siyouni has become a reliable source of winners in Hong Kong, delivering 24 triumphs overall from seven individual horses, led by Leading Fortune's eight from 54 races.
The Club went to GNS450,000 once more for Lot 89, an eye-catching colt by Too Darn Hot, who in his first season as a sire collected Group 1 victory in the 2023 Moyglare Stud Stakes with Fallen Angel. The youngster's dam Sellsabeel has produced three winners.
GNS425,000 was the price required for Lot 171, a son of Sea The Stars, whose progeny includes global superstars Stradivarius, Baeed, Crystal Ocean, Sea Of Class, Hukum and Taghrooda among many, many more.
The Club went to GNS400,000 for an eye-catching son of Kitten's Joy, sold as Lot 441. The chestnut has close ties to Mubtaker, second in the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe behind the great Dalakhani.
Lope de Vega has 41 wins in Hong Kong as a sire, led by Fast Most Furious' six. The Club secured one of his sons for GNS225,000 as Lot 471. His other outstanding progeny includes Group 1 winners Santa Ana Lane, Vega Magic and Gytrash.
Lot 493 wrapped up the Club's buying at GNS160,000. The colt is by Mehmas, who has a limited but remarkably successful exposure to Hong Kong racing as a sire with noted sons Circuit Stellar and Taj Dragon.
