The Hong Kong Jockey Club purchased six eye-catching colts at the recent 2024 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale in Australia for a combined outlay of AU$3.165 million (approx. HK$16.89 million).

The Club commenced buying with the first of three yearlings by Deep Field – Lot 337 – who was followed later by Lot 764 and Lot 931. The trio, along with the others, will soon make their way to Hong Kong in preparation for the 2026 Hong Kong International Sale.

Lot 337 is a bay colt by the sprint sensation, bought for AU$675,000. Twice leading sire in Hong Kong, Deep Field has 113 winners in the city and counting, among these are the Group 1-winning Sky Field and Hong Kong Derby-winning Voyage Bubble, as well as Howdeepisyourlove, The Golden Scenery, Winner Method, True Legend and more.

Lot 764 fell the Club's way for AU$300,000 and hails from the same family as Group 1 winners Not A Single Doubt, Oohood and King's Legacy.

Lot 931 is the Club's highest-priced acquisition, and third by Deep Field, for AU$800,000. The youngster has ties to Group 1 winners Prized Gem and Nom Du Jeu.

Lot 367 is a strong and athletic son of Dundeel, purchased for AU$400,000, and is the first of two heading the Club's way. Best known for the likes of Castelvecchio, Militarize and Hope In Your Heart, Dundeel has had a limited but successful involvement in Hong Kong racing with 13 wins from 13 overall runners.

Lot 408 is by Dundeel and is closely related to Group 3 winner Ain'tnodeeldun, a seven-time winner in Australia. The well-bred colt was purchased for AU$440,000.

Written Tycoon is proven in Hong Kong and the Club secured one his progeny for AU$550,000 – Lot 713. His top-level victors as a sire include Coolangatta, Capitalist and Written By, while in Hong Kong, Class 2 winners New Asia Sunrise, Country Melody, Fantastic Treasure, Grateful Heart and Eason are among his progeny.
