Donna Logan unveiled two top three-year-old prospects at her home meeting on Saturday and only an administrative error prevented the possibility of dream starts for the pair.

The Ruakaka trainer produced first timers Hasselhoof and Silencer to quinella the Cowley’s Hire Centre Maiden at Ruakaka with the stablemates distancing their rivals.

“I knew they were both good winning chances and they were meant to be split,” Logan said.

Silencer was supposed to have made his debut in the other maiden event on the card, but an office mistake resulted in the pair going head to head.

“It cost us dearly,” Logan said. “I’ll be looking after both of them – they’ve got very bright futures.”

Hasselhoof had given a taster of his ability with two trial wins and he had no trouble carrying that form over to race day with a sustained finish under Matt Cameron that carried him past Silencer, who had shot clear early in the run home.

A half-brother to the Listed Wairarapa Thoroughbred Breeders’ Stakes winner Vercors, who also placed in the Gr.2 Travis Stakes, Hasselhoof was a $14,000 Karaka purchase.

“I love these Tavistocks – give me more of them!” Logan said. “This one is a big, leggy horse who needs reasonable ground and he’ll stay. He’s out of a Zabeel mare.

“Matt came in and said he was very green and was only doing half pace.”

Logan also saddled the trifecta in the following event, the Fell Engineering 1600, with Thornbird Lass downing Loves The Show and Big Voices in a blanket finish.

“That was beautiful to see them go across the line like that,” she said.
