Talented French jockey Maxime Guyon repeated his 2014 performance over the International Race Weekend in Mauritius on December 3 and 4 which closed the local racing season for 2016.
After a single victory on Saturday aboard the favoured Emaar Guyon hit hard on Sunday to overtake Australia’s Mark Zahra, the leader after day one.
The Frenchman landed a super treble aboard Duke The Duke (2nd race), Paladin (4th) and Sunset Breeze (7th).Thanks to this three-star performance Guyon amassed 19 points to relegate another Australian rider James Winks to second place.
Winks, victorious with Suzie's Arrow on Saturday, landed a second winner on Sunday with Jullidar.However Zahra, after two victories on Saturday with Blue Jeans and Avail, finished empty-handed on Sunday and lost three places to finish fourth.
The other high on Sunday was a sublime victory by Tandragee in the main event for the Gujadhur stable.Indian rider Pradeep Chouhan did not miss his first foreign experience as he signed in with a victory with Sir Earl Grey in the 5th.
