Ridden by the in form Ryan Curatolo, Speed On crossed from his wide gate and sat right on the tail of the leader Bingo Champion, before pouncing on him at the 200m. He went to the line to well to beat Golden Idol (Frankie Choi), with favorite Bingo Champion (Andrew Calder) a short head away in third.

Prepared by the joint stable of Rambo Tse and K C Wong, Speed On has now won four races on the sand and placed second on two occasions from only six starts on the surface.

Speed On commenced his racing career as Hapi Assassin in the Ruakaka stables of Kenny and Lisa Rae in New Zealand.

The gelding won a maiden at Oamaru and placed a further twice before being imported to Macau. Arriving in Macau on a rating of 64, Speed On now sits on a mark of 92 and should continue to add to that, especially on the all weather surface.

The Korea Racing Authority Goodwill Trophy (1100m) was the second of four feature races with Peter Ho taking riding honors, winning the Selangor Turf Club Goodwill Cup and the Jockey Club of Turkey Goodwill Cup.

The K H Leong trained Nothing To Say was the first of Ho’s winners when the talented rider bought him with a well timed run to snatch victory from the The Precious Prime (Ryan Curatolo), with Hopefully Tomorrow (Breinell Yamzon) close up in third.

The 29/1 long-shot Valiant Fella was the second of Peter Ho’s winners when he charged down the outside late to down the well supported Power Battery (Andrew Calder), with Gauteng Ruan Maia holding on for third in the Jockey Club Of Turkey Goodwill Cup. Both races were over 1500 metres (sand).

At his previous run the Patrick Lee prepared Valiant Fella had caused chaos when ridden by the younger rider Frankie Choi. He took charge of his rider and ran right off the track at the 1300 metre point taking Priceless Treasure with him.

The three year old gelding was ordered by the stewards to trial following the incident and with the much more experienced Peter Ho on top was approved to race again.

In Saturday’s race the gelding was put in a midfield position by Ho and raced much more generously in the run before powering home to victory.

Roger Yu shared riding honors with Peter Ho with a winning double on the afternoon including a win in the first of the days features, the Japan Racing Association Trophy over 1050 metres on the newcomer China Paradise.

China Paradise from the Tony Fung stable was bet heavily to jump favorite in light of a very nippy win in an 800 metre barrier trial on November 22.

The former Australian galloper had a second at Bendigo in Victoria to his name when he raced there as Berri Cherry trained by Darren Weir.

The son of Red Arrow looks like he will pay his way in Macau in the sprint races judging by Saturday’s victory.

Roger Yu capped off his day with an all the way win in the last of the day, the 0 to 45 rated event over 1600 metres on the 57/1 bolter River Dream for leading trainer Sio Cheong.

River Dream just refused to surrender when taken on by Road To Victory (Cliff Lai) from the five hundred mark and held on to prevail by a head on the wire with the even money favorite Paulson (Peter Ho) in third.
