The Singapore Racing Awards 2022 is set to make its return as a physical event on Tuesday, 21 March 2023, where the local racing fraternity will come together once again to applaud its winners.
Unlike in the 2020 and 2021 seasons where recognition for the industry participants was given behind closed doors due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the gala dinner this year will be held at the Derby, located at the Singapore Turf Club (STC)'s grandstand building at 6.30pm.
For the 2022 season, there are a total of 13 awards to be presented, in which seven are from the equine category and six will be awarded to Singapore racing personalities.
Winners for the six personality awards are determined by their number of wins in the season. Congratulations to Champion Trainer (Tim Fitzsimmons), Champion Jockey (Manoel Nunes), Champion Resident Jockey (Wong Chin Chuen), Champion Apprentice Jockey (Yusoff Fadzli) and Champion Owner by Prizemoney won (Lim's Stable). The latter is also tied on the score ladder with Buffalo Stable, making both stables winners in the Champion Owner by Number of Wins category.
Winners for the remaining seven awards, including the coveted Horse of the Year award will be determined by votes from a panel of 10 external and 10 internal judges. External judges include members of the racing media from The Straits Times, Shin Min Daily News, Punters' Way, iRace and STC's guest tipsters, while the internal panel includes the Racing Sub-Committee Chairman Andrew Loh, Chief Racing Officer Dayle Brown, Handicapping Panel, TV broadcasting teams (English and Chinese) and the racing news desk.
The six other equine titles up for voting are the Champion Three-Year-Old, Champion Four-Year-Old, Champion Sprinter, Champion Miler, Champion Stayer and Champion Polytrack Horse awards.
Nominees to the various Awards are shortlisted primarily on the basis of their performances in Group races and Class 1 / Kranji Stakes A races.
