Eight-year-old galloper Golden Flame looks a genuine chance to open his winning account in Malaysia when he steps out in the 1600m Combined Class 3/4 event at Kuala Lumpur on Sunday.

Golden Flame will strip fitter following his first up performance when finishing a neck 2nd behind the inform Flying Durumi over 1200m here a month ago. Debuting for the KC Tiang stable, the gelding was heavily backed to start favourite after a couple of solid trials and lost no admirers at his first start in eight months.

Golden Flame has not won since winning a Class 3 in Singapore back in September 2021 but has won twice at the mile previously and looks ideally placed to return to winning form.
