idden by Winston Cheah who last scored on the son of Snitzel last August, the Australian gelding sat behind the pace set by the first two favouites TITAN PEGASUS and DABBLE in the Supreme A set-weight event over 1100m at Sungai Besi here today.

TITAN PEGASUS beat off DABBLE at the 300m and had a two-length lead from the chasing The Mareeba Mango  at the 200m.

THE MAREEBA MANGO collared the leader 100m out and raced away in the closing stages to win by 1 1/4 lengths. TITAJN PEGASUS held on for second with WAR DRAGON flashing home to take third placing.

THE MAREEBA MANGO, who was placed once in three starts in Australia, has spent more time on the sidelines than on the race track since landed in Singapore in early 2020.

He started brilliantly at Kranji with a win and a second at Kranji in August that year but then spent spent 17 months in the paddock, missing the whole of 2021 season.

After finishing fourth in his Malaysia debut in June 2022, MAREEBA MANGO was out for another nine months.

A change of trainer to Simon Dunderdale saw him with came back and scored in two consecutive starts in November 2022. But another enforced break followed, and subsequently another change of trainer to Richard Lines in February last year.

THE MAREEBA MANGO made another comeback and finished second first-up, followed by a win last August. He had two more runs before taking on very strong opposition today, his biggest test so far.

"As I said before, he (THE MAREEBA MANGO) is a very talented horse and races well when fresh," said Lines. "Winston gave him a perfect ride today."

Jockey Cheah said: "He had a great run behind the leaders today. He is very fresh and fit after a short spell."
