Cape Derby and Daily News winner Jackson has returned from a month’s holiday to Brett Crawford's Phillipi stables and is likely to have his first race of the season in a Kenilworth sprint.

Crawford said: “Jackson had a fortnight on a farm in Durban and another on one in Wellington.

"He has done well and he looks magnificent.

"I wouldn’t have minded running him in the Matchem had it been run at Kenilworth but not at Durbanville so I will probably give him a run up the straight first.

"Then the program will be the Green Point, the L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate and the J & B Met."

His TBA Paddock Stakes-winning stablemate Thunder Dance also had a month’s spell and stays in training for a further season.

Crawford said: "Her main mission will be a second Paddock Stakes and then we will see if she is good enough to go for anything else, for instance the Met."

Crawford's success with his two stars has led to an influx of horses into his stable.

"I now have a second yard at Phillipi and I am going to need it," he said.

"At the moment I have 58 horses including five babies and I have 25 more two-year-olds to come. But some horses will be going because I don’t believe in keeping those that are not going to win."
