After a largely forgettable 2011/12 Cape campaign, the Dennis Drier-trained Beach Beauty slammed her 12 rivals, leaving some big names with dented reputations.

The favourite Run For It accelerated smartly over the final 500m but had no answer to Beach Beauty who had 1.25 lengths in hand at the line

KZN based Drier is now looking forward to Beach Beauty putting behind her the nightmares of her incident-filled effort in last year's Met when she was just two lengths behind Igugu.

Drier, winning a second Group feature this summer after Chave De Oura had won the G3 Cape Classic, said things had not gone Beach Beauty’s way last year.

"Last year unfortunately I don’t think things quite went her way but she never disgraced herself and the whole team was very chuffed with her. That’s why we decided to give her another chance," Drier said.

"I’m glad we did. I’ve never trained a sounder horse and it was a peach of a ride by Sean Cormack."

Beach Beauty has won nine races, including five Group events, with six places from 18 starts for stake earnings of R1,362,453.

The G3 Victress Stakes over 1800m – a race in which Beach Beauty finished second last year – went to Razzle Dazzle Rose under Bernard Fayd’Herbe for trainer Yogas Govender.

Govender said Razzle Dazzle Rose, bred and owned by Sabine Plattner, will be aimed at the G1 Paddock Stakes on Queen's Plate day.

While this was her first black-type credit Razzle Dazzle Rose nevertheless has an impressive record of five wins from her 12 starts.
