Champion mare Beach Beauty justified her hot favouritism to add the R1 million Klawervlei Majorca Stakes to her superb record at Kenilworth on Saturday.

Kept closer to the pace by jockey Sean Cormack, she settled her third and came forward smoothly to lead 200m out and won well from Hammie’s Hooker.

Cormack said:: “I get very emotional when I ride this filly. It was impossible from the draw (13) but she did it.

“Once she got into her stride, it was race over. She’s awesome.”

Winning trainer Dennis Drier said: “The more they throw everything at her she just proves that she’s too good.”

It was her 15th win career victory and fourth G1 win. She leaves Cape Town with a haul of three wins and a third from four starts this summer including two at G1 level.

Last season's Equus champion older mare, the six-year-old won the Cape's premier event for fillies and mares, the Paddock Stakes at her previous outing.

• FAVOURITE Captain America let his supporters down in the R1 million Cape Derby at Kenilworth on Saturday, running home from far back and failing to get to 28-1 shot Legislate.

Legislate made short work of getting to the front once the pacemaker folded and kept rolling to give trainer Justin Snaith and jockey Richard Fourie the classic.

Captain America ran on for a 1.25-length second, having got too far back, with Arion back in third.

Captain America has now run second in both G1 classics this summer after his runner-up finish in the Cape Guineas.
