Legislate Accepts For J & B Met

3 minute read

Horse of the Year Legislate has been declared for South Africa's prized R2.5 million J&B Met at Kenilworth on January 31.

Legislate, under a cloud since his shock failure when last in the G1 Queen’s Plate two weeks ago, heads a field of 15 horses set to contest the 2000m feature.

South Africa's best 3YO Act Of War is missing but the race has still attracted a top class field with the country’s three highest-rated horses - Legislate, Louis The King and Futura - in the line-up.

Legislate's participation has been in doubt but it seems trainer Justin Snaith is happy with the way he has picked up since the Queen’s failure behind Futura.

Snaith had warned punters to hold off backing Legislate, urging them not to place any bets on the three time G1 winner until he was an acceptor.

Snaith appears half the way there as he maintains Legislate will only race if he is back to full health.

“The horse's wellbeing and reputation is paramount. We will keep you updated on his progress,” Snaith posted on Facebook.
