Back Preview and form for Scottsville

3 minute read

Preview and form for Gold Circle's meeting at Scottsville on Wednesday. Selections by Andrew Harrison.

Race 1

Preview: Majority are first timers. Of those that have run, FIRST CRUSADE made a promising debut and is sure to improve from that run. FIRST MATE and WALL TAG both raced green on debut and likely to come on from the experience. The betting should be your best guide. (Andrew Harrison: 5-6-15-8).

Race 2

Preview: Majority are first timers but KATEECADOR has shown up well in both starts and was a beaten favourite last time out. She can make amends. SO VAIN has not been far back in two outings and has drawn well. SHINDEAGEN made big improvement when runner-up on the poly last time out. She must rate a chance on that showing. Of the first timers CHICA MUSICA and DAME COMMANDER may be worth following. (Andrew Harrison: 8-14-13-4)

Race 3

Preview: CONCEALED SECRET has shown up well in both starts. He races in a tongue-tie and should be good enough to win this. TOM COLLINS finished a distant second on debut but the winner Monks Hood looks special. ON YOUR LIFE is lightly raced but has shown some ability. SUBTROPICAL was not too far back on debut and should come on with that run under his girth. (Andrew Harrison: 11-16-1-15).

Race 4

Preview: Wide open. DINNER DATE came in for some long-priced betting support at her second start and made good improvement. A repeat can see her go close again. KHETIWE has disappointed at her last two but is much better than that. She may be worth another chance. ARRAN ISES has let the side down on more than one occasion but is seldom too far back. The straight course could be to her liking. LADY IN BLACK boasts a top pedigree and may be worth watching in the market. (Andrew Harrison: 13-4-2-14).

Race 5

Preview: Tough race. PINA COLADA lacked finish when favourite last start but now tries blinkers. Her first two starts showed some promise. COSIMA has improved with every outing and was a close-up second last start. She switches to the turf here. SAPPHIRE PETUNIA has shown some promise. The step up in trip should suit. DAMARALAND is a smartly bred import. If she runs to her pedigree she will be right there. (Andrew Harrison: 4-2-1-11).

Race 6

Preview: Tricky. BISHOP’S BOUNTY made a smart local debut. He has some useful Cape form to his credit and should feature. OUR DESTINY is a smart filly and can do better than her last effort. BUFFALO SOLDIER has shown some good form in useful company and looks well in at the weights. The blinkers are back on. HORSE GUARDS made a smart return after a lengthy break and is another that can feature in an open race. (Andrew Harrison: 2-8-11-12).

Race 7

Preview: ONE MAN SHOW gives weight all round but stays the trip and has been taking on stronger at recent outings. MAIN PLAYER goes this trip for the first time. He met a strong field on the poly last time out but was narrowly beaten by the talented Techno Captain at his penultimate start. With a handy weight he should be right there. Stable companion RIO DE LA PLATA goes well over course and distance. His last run in the wet is best ignored. SHERIFF HOOD has finally found form and was a good second first up in a handicap. He could well enjoy this trip. (1-3-2-7).

Race 8

Preview: THE SLADE is a promising three-year-old who has done well in top company. He should have a big chance in this field. TECHNO CAPTAIN is much better than his last run. He has good form on this course. He can be difficult but will go well on his best showing. RUN RHINO RUN can also be difficult but he is useful on his day. He may have needed his last outing. ROCKEFELLER has useful poly form and now switches to the turf. He is up in class but can place. (Andrew Harrison: 2-5-1-4).

Race 9

Preview: Tricky. RIVER GARDEN is lightly raced but has gone close in both starts. However, he does have a difficult draw to contend with. The blinkers come off ASYOUPLEASE but this will be his third run after a break and from a good draw should be right there. SEATTLE SPELL can do better on the grass and now tries blinkers. SPUN OUT is much better than his last effort and can go close with his claiming apprentice up. (Andrew Harrison: 13-1-6-5)
