Fairview Picks - Friday, 12 April

3 minute read

Race 1
Race Summary: A good race to start the card. ANUSCHKA'S WORLD showed good improvement when third last time and looked an unlucky loser so should fight out the finish. Stable companion FIRST LORD ran well on debut and could contest the finish again. HAVANA GREY is a Heavenly Blue filly making her debut for the Alan Greeff-Richard Fourie combination. YELLOW JACKET ran well on debut but did not repeat it last time out.

Selections:
#7 Yellow Jacket, #1 Anuschka's World, #3 First Lord

Race 2
Race Summary: QUEEN OF JAZZ showed little on debut but made good progress in her second start when narrowly losing. The step up to 1400m should suit her and she should make a bold winning bid. Stable companions DOUBLE TRADE and GOLD QUEST are also capable of improvement. FIRE FESTIVAL can improve over this longer distance and could play a minor role. MAXIGIRL should improve and could contest the finish. MILLION REASONS has been fair so far and has a place chance. OH MY GUCCI GIRL is improving and could earn some money.

Selections:
#9 Queen Of Jazz, #3 Eat Prey Love, #5 Gold Quest, #7 Million Reasons

Race 3
Race Summary: CICADIDAE was not disgraced on local debut on the Polytrack from an awful draw and will do a lot better. HAVRE DE GRACE was improving with each run and has a winning chance on local debut. CABARET has been a disappointment in that she has yet to win but has changed trainers and makes her local debut so should be a real threat. HALLOWED SECRET, SUNDROP, DUMISANI and MY TRUE LOVE are all capable of earning some money.

Selections:
#1 Cicadidae, #6 Cabaret, #5 Havre De Grace, #12 Dumisani

Race 4
Race Summary: A competitive race. LEGAL TRILLER has been putting in some decent efforts of late but that has seen his merit rating rise, and he now has to prove himself back in a handicap. He would not be a surprise winner. METAR was a bit unlucky on her local debut and could go one better this time. EUPHORIC is distance suited so can contest the finish. Stable companions HAWK CIRCLE and PEMBROKE are both improving and are clearly not out of it. SAND BANK and AFRICA'S ROCK are both better than their last runs would suggest.

Selections:
#1 Legal Thriller, #3 Metar, #6 Pembroke, #5 Hawk Circle

Race 5
Race Summary: THE MAURITIAN has come off two good runs in decent fields, so it is a surprise to see his merit rating actually dropped and with Richard Fourie in the irons he does look the right one. It is a handicap so there are plenty of dangers. YOU KNOW WHO returns from a break but deserves respect. SAY YES and FATEFUL DAY make the local debuts after changing trainers so could pop up. MAKHACHEV and KINGDOM OF HEAVEN have both done enough this year to be considered possible winners.

Selections:
#2 The Mauritian, #6 Makhachev, #4 Fateful Day

Race 6
Race Summary: Jockey Louie Mxothwa is 2 from 2 aboard decent sprinter CRUISE CONTROL and he should prove hard to catch over this course and distance. CLIFF TOP has beaten rival CRUISE CONTROL a couple of times but not recently. He is in good form and should contest the finish. FIREALLEY looked an unlucky loser last time out but may find these runners a too speedy. EVIES FIRST has the ability and did beat CRUISE CONTROL over 1200m. THE WINTER LAKE is much improved since blinkers were added and could also get involved with the finish.

Selections:
#1 Cruise Control, #5 The Winter Lake, #2 Cliff Top, #3 Firealley

Race 7
Race Summary: A small field but is should be a cracking race. Trainer Justin Snaith must have plenty of fillies capable of winning a race like this so as EPIKLEROS is his sole runner one has to take notice and she could prove to be the right one. JOY AND PEACE has been costly to follow but showed her very best when quickening away to win well last time out and will be a serious threat. PUBLIC BENEFIT has been ultra-consistent but was a bit of a disappointment last time out. However, she can bounce back and be a danger. DAMOSTAR, BACK FOR MORE, SUN SPECTACULAR and AMAZING COLOURS are all capable of improvement trying this course and distance.

Selections:
#4 Epikleros, #2 Joy And Peace, #3 Public Benefit, #5 Back For More

Race 8
Race Summary: Two runners do seem to stand out in this handicap. WAZ WOUTER has been holding form in some good fields of late and was a very easy winner the last time he ran in a handicap so is clearly the one to beat. Alan Greeff sends out filly GIDEON'S DAUGHTER to take him on and has shown very good improvement of late. She was third behind stable companions in her last two starts and now gets the services of Richard Fourie. SILVER HUNT is capable of improvement off her local debut and WOMANS WORLD proved in need of her last run and could earn some money.

Selections:
#1 Waz Wouter, #9 Gideon's Daughter, #11 Woman's World, #3 Mo Flow

Race 9
Race Summary: The usual last race open handicap. DESTINY'S ANGEL ran out a very easy winner when returning to the turf last time out and could prove better than his merit-rating. HORSEFLY is improving and could earn some minor money. GUNSMOKE is clearly better than his last run would suggest and likes this distance. MEETATTHEWINDSOR surprised to win three runs back and is capable of winning if in the mood but he has proven to be a difficult ride. CHARLIE MALONE is better than his last run and has a place chance. WIND SOCK is improving and could finish in the money.

Selections:
#4 Destiny's Angel, #6 Meetatthewindsor, #7 Charlie Malone, #8 Wind Sock

Best Win: #5 WORLDLY
Best Value Bet:
Best Longshot: #4 DESTINY'S ANGEL
