Former Irish galloper Law Of Indices is looking for his maiden Australian win in the Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes at Caulfield.

The Annabel Neasham stable is hoping a reconnaissance trip to Caulfield will land Law Of Indices his maiden win in Australia. 

The former Irish galloper runs in the Group 1 Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on Saturday. 

Law Of Indices came out to Australia to contest last year's Golden Eagle (1500m) at Rosehill in which he finished fifth behind I'm Thunderstruck. 

An autumn campaign followed in Sydney where the five-year-old was dogged by wet tracks, although he did manage to finish third in the Group 1 George Ryder Stakes (1500m) at Rosehill in March. 

Law Of Indices wound up his autumn campaign with two runs in Brisbane, the best of which was a ninth-place finish behind Alligator Blood in the Group 1 Stradbroke Handicap (1400m) at Eagle Farm. 

Neasham's racing manager Rob Archibald took Law Of Indices and stablemate Mumbai Jewel to Caulfield on Tuesday to preview the track before Saturday's outing. 

Mumbai Jewel is down to run in the Group 2 Thousand Guineas Prelude (1400m). 

Archibald said Jamie Kah partnered Law Of Indices in the workout but John Allen had been booked for Saturday's assignment. 

"It was important to bring him here for a look," Archibald said. 

"His work was good, and Jamie gave him a good tick of approval, so it was pleasing." 

Law Of Indices has been in Melbourne for a little over a week and had a jump-out at Flemington last Friday which followed a barrier trial at Warwick Farm last month before venturing south. 

"He's good fresh. He had a trial up in Sydney and a jump-out at Flemington, so he's ready to go," Archibald said. 

"He had a Group 1 campaign up in Brisbane and he's Group 1 placed in Sydney. 

"He didn't get a lot of luck up in Brisbane but he's a nice horse and we're hoping he can get back to his best form this preparation."
