Goodwood racecourse stage their first fixture of the season on Friday with a seven race programme.

The feature event is the second race on the card at 2.05pm, the Listed British EBF 40th Anniversary Daisy Warwick Fillies' Stakes over 1m 4f for four-year-olds and upwards (fillies and mares only). Superstar mare Alpinista won this race two years ago before success at the top level on six occasions including the Group 1 Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe last year. This contest on the South Downs often attracts some talented mares who do well throughout the season.

Time Lock is one of the market leaders and looks a promising daughter of Frankel who enjoyed a successful three-year-old season last year with a win over this distance at Newmarket in May before a placing at Haydock. She handled the step up in class well when a neck second contesting the Listed Sir Henry Cecil Galtres Stakes at York in August.

Thanks Monica was running well last year with a career best effort last September when third in Listed company at Galway and could feature. Voodoo Queen was fifth behind Time Lock last August at York in this level but brings more experience with six previous starts. Typewriter looks interesting considering she placed twice at this level last year with a third last May in the Cheshire Oaks and a third of four in the Listed Chester Stakes in August. Ching Shih is still open to further progress after five outings. The filly placed third in the Group 3 Musidora Stakes last May at York and represents the winning owners from two years ago.

The day begins with the 1.30pm, the 5f Juddmonte EBF Restricted Novice Stakes where Dubai Hills rates highly. The Amy Murphy trained colt showed plenty of promise on debut in France when second over this trip in an enhanced prizemoney race at Chantilly. Ethandun profiles well on paper as does Relentless Warrior. Vitarli has shown promise including a Beverley novice success last month.

The third event looks a competitive 5f Class Two Handicap. Reigning Profit won on Wednesday at Pontefract and and backs-up two days later bidding for a hat-trick up in grade. Dream Composer is another last start winner when half-a-length clear in a Class Three Newmarket handicap and this five-year-old has some smart form at this venue. Prop Forward is beginning to produce a consistent profile and won unchallenged at Kempton AW last time. Came From The Dark would be interesting on best form alongside Clarendon House.

There are progressive horses in the 3.45pm, the 1m British Ebf Ruby Jubilee Conditions Stakes with the unbeaten Cicero's Gift and One Night Thunder against Kolsai and Ancestral Land who both already hold placed form in Listed and Group 3 company respectively in their careers.
