American Rascal, a son of Lady Aurelia who was also trained by Wesley Ward and competed at Royal Ascot on three occasions will be bidding to follow in her footsteps is being prepped to make the journey across the Atlantic for next month's Royal Meeting.

Lady Aurelia became a famous name at the fixture following her storming victory on her first appearance at the Berkshire venue winning by seven lengths in the Group 2 Queen Mary Stakes under Frankie Dettori over 5f.

Twelve months later she took on and beat the older horses in the Group 1 King's Stand Stakes over 5f posting a three-length victory.

The fabulous sprinter's final Royal Ascot outing resulted in defeat when defending her King's Stand title in 2018, finishing a not disgraced seventh of fourteen before being retired to stud.

One of her offspring is currently catching the eye in the United States and has his ticket booked to race at the Royal Meeting next month. American Rascal was the first foal out of Lady Aurelia to hit the track and is a bay colt by Curlin. He looked impressive winning over the short 4.5f in April at Keeneland, following in his mother's footsteps, as she won on debut almost seven years to the day at the same venue.

American Rascal's trainer, W A Ward said:

"He's doing great, we're just getting ready for our workout, here on the grass at Keeneland,"

"We're moving forward, everything's great. I sure was delighted with his debut, that was exciting."

"We're looking forward to getting his breeze workouts in and then we're coming for you!

"We'll probably get there a little early, just after the first week in June.

"We'll have a workout or two on English soil, everybody over here is all smiles and very, very excited for this."
