It’s a busy Friday of racing and we have three selections to get your weekend off to a great start…

We head to Scotland for our first selection in the 6f Class 4 G4 Claims Ltd EBF Restricted Maiden Stakes (5:55) at Hamilton Park. Richard Fahey's Gamraan has been very green in both outings, especially at Doncaster last time. He was outpaced at the two-furlong marker but made headway from a furlong out and got up to finish third in the final strides. It's interesting that trainer Richard Fahey is dropping the son of Masar back down to six furlongs, but the colt is a half-brother to winners over both six and seven furlongs. It's a tough race but Gamraan appears capable of winning if learning from his previous two runs.

SELECTION – GAMRAAN (6/1)

Newmarket host an evening meeting on the July Course and there are a few interesting prospects across the card. William Haggas' Summit appeals in the 7f Class 4 Pertemps Medical Radiography Fillies' Novice Stakes (5:45) after her promising third on debut at Haydock. She looked a little inexperienced when breaking slowly and jumping the crossing, but soon progressed and made headway at the two-furlong marker to finish third.

The Kodiac filly is a full-sister to Indestructible, who was placed twice at Group level as a juvenile and won the Group 3 Craven Stakes on seasonal reappearance. The Haggas team are in good order with a strike rate of 20% (9-46) from the last fourteen days and improvement from this filly would be no surprise.

SELECTION – SUMMIT (9/2)

Remaining at Newmarket, it may prove foolish to oppose the evens favourite Elnajmm in the 1m Pertemps Medical General Nursing Novice Stakes (6:55) but he has been a beaten favourite on both of his career starts so far.

With that in mind, a good price is available (4/1) for Freddie and Martyn Meade's Modesty, who is a beautifully bred Dubawi filly out of a Group 3 winning Coolmore mare I Am Beautiful, a half-sister to Champion Two-Year-Old Rumplestiltskin. Modesty was a comfortable and professional winner of her maiden at York over a mile in October and returned after the winter break with a good third in a novice stakes at Doncaster behind Embesto, who placed second in the Listed Sir Henry Cecil Stakes last week.

The form of her races have worked out well, and there appears to be plenty more to come from this filly.
