Sam King’s Horse Racing Tips Today

3 minute read

Sam King tipped Lawn Ranger to back up favouritism at Windsor last time and he duly obliged, albeit at shorter odds than expected. There are five meetings to get stuck into across the UK and Ireland on this tremendous Tuesday and Sam King returns with two strong fancies.

Today's horse racing tips.
Today's horse racing tips.

We head to Catterick for our first selection and Jamil looks good value to add another course win to his name in the Join Racing Tv Now Handicap at 5.10.

Tina Jackson's eight-year-old's record over course and distance is near perfect with four wins and one placing from his five starts over the mile and a quarter at Catterick.

He looked to have something in hand when beating the reopposing Valley Of Flowers by half a length here just under a fortnight ago and there's effectively only 1lb between them once more, with Laura Pearson no longer able to claim 3lb on Valley Of Flowers.

Cut in the ground will pose no issues given he's won six times with soft in the description and a fifth course win beckons.

Selection: Jamil – General 10/3

Heads turn to the all-weather for the second wager and Thomas Equinas seemingly has plenty in his favour in the Pop Essex Handicap at Chelmsford this evening (7.50).

He disappointed when well beaten at Yarmouth last time but didn't run badly on his prior two turf (0-5) outings and will definitely appreciate the switch back to this artificial surface.

Dean Ivory's charge has dropped 4lb since finishing sixth over a mile here in May and he was given plenty to do from the rear of the field on that occasion. The four-year-old olds best form has clearly come over seven furlongs, a trip he returns to this evening, and he pulled well clear of the third-place horse when bumping into a subsequent winner on his last start over track and trip in April.

The gelded son of Mayson won a course and distance classified event back in March and he's certainly well-treated off 48 given he has plenty of decent form at this venue off marks around the mid-to-high 50s.

Stall ten would normally be a slight concern, but Robert Havlin knows this horse well and I'd expect him to drop in towards the rear. There should be enough pace on upfront to allow him to get a nice toe into the contest and I'm not surprised he heads the market in what looks like a moderate affair.

Selection: Thomas Equinas – General 11/4
