Impressive Betfred Flying Scotsman Stakes winner Dancing Gemini has been given the go-ahead for a tilt at the Group 1 Futurity Trophy at Doncaster next month.

The Roger Teal-trained son of Camelot showed distinct promise in his first two outings to date before readily getting off the mark in a Newbury maiden at the third time of asking.

However, he took his form to a new level when ripping apart a nine-strong field in the Listed Betfred Flying Scotsman Stakes over seven furlongs at Doncaster last week, a performance that has seemingly earned him a crack at the top-level back on the Town Moor next month.

"We've always liked him; he's just been a typical two-year-old in that his body has been changing shape all year and everything has come together late on. He's strengthened up finally and he's just proved what he can do now," Teal said.

The Lambourn-based handler added: "That's what we'll aim for [Futurity Trophy], definitely. He acts on the course and the ground will probably be testing, so I think he deserves to take his chance.

"I'm sure Aidan will bring his battalion and I'll be like the sniper against them!

Teal was also keen to suggest that there could be plenty more to come from his colt stepping up to a mile.

"We've been keen to step him up to the mile. Lewis couldn't really pull him up over seven the other day, so I don't think an extra furlong will be a problem to him at all."

Paddy Power have Dancing Gemini priced up as a 12-1 chance for the Futurity Trophy back at Doncaster on October 28th.
