Forever Unbridled has caused an upset with a half-length win in the Grade One Breeders' Cup Distaff at Del Mar.

Ridden by John Velazquez, Forever Unbridled held off Abel Tasman with the favourite Elate fourth in the eight-horse field in the feature race on the first day of the two-day Breeders' Cup meeting.

It was a second Breeders' Cup victory for trainer Dallas Stewart, 16 years after Unbridled Elaine's upset win in the same race at Belmont Park

Stellar Wind, a six-time Grade One winner, finished last in her final race before retirement.
