Irish 1000 Guineas and Gold Cup day

3 minute read

Another huge day of racing at the Curragh.

It starts off with the Lanwades Stud Stake G2 over 1600m with a field of 9.  Joseph O'Brien's Rogue Millenium heads to the calls on 7/4, and there is little between Orchid Bloom and Ocean Jewel at around 4/1.

The 1000 Guineas has 14 runners and here the talented Opera Singer is on 9/4.  She is by Justify and last year won the Boussac by 5 lengths.  Ryan Moore riding for O'Brien.

The lightly raced stablemate Buttons is on 8/1 and will be ridden by Wayne Lordan – she's by Kingman.  And splitting them in the market is Vespertilio, a daughter of Night Of Thunder on 5/1 for McCreery-McDonough.

The Tattersall's Gold Cup G1 is over 1900m with a field of 8 headed by the mercurial Auguste Rodin.  It seems he doesn't really like travel so here at home is seen as a big chance on evens or slightly odds-on.  Ryan Moore as usual on board the O'Brien.  My other selections have been withdrawn so we will go with White Birch on 7/2 and Elegant Man on 6/1.
