The Canberra Racing Club celebrated a successful synthetic racing season with Acton Track Grand Final Day last Friday, September 1. The fifth meeting on the new Polytrack surface again proved fair, with winners coming from everywhere.

Trainers and owners have given the new Acton Track the vote of confidence with an average field size of 10 across the season.

Canberra Racing Club Chief Executive Darren Pearce said, "It was a significant investment for the Club which is paying dividends already."

"We now have a fantastic racing and training asset that can be enjoyed by horses, horse people and punters alike."

The Canberra Racing Club will next host racing on Friday, 15 September for Joseph Jones Race Day. The meeting will be the first on the Course Proper since June earlier this year.

"Racecourse Manager Adam Ayre and his hardworking team have been able to give our course proper a much-needed renovation which will hold us in good stead as we enter what is a revamped Spring at Thoroughbred Park." Pearce said.

With two Saturdays in September and November, we will have a chance to really showcase Canberra Racing so it's important that we are presenting a world-class racing surface each meeting."

On Acton Track Grand Final Day, it was Shafty for David Blundell from Gundagai who proved too strong in the Polytrack Stayers Cup (1900m), while the locally-trained Devine Miss showed superior speed in the Pipeline Supplies Australia Sprinters Cup (1206m) for Norm Gardner.
