Some inclement weather has remained throughout the last seven days and at publish, we're faced with a track rated in the Soft (5) range, while the rail will be left in the true position.

Check out our Canterbury Preview and tips below.

RACE 1 - 12:50PM: Hyland Race Colours Handicap (1550m)

Little Jeanie has finished second in each of two runs back from a break and gets another great chance to win at Canterbury on Wednesday.

The Ciaron Maher-trained filly hit the line behind Makena last month before turning in a similarly good performance behind Stand Aside.

Fitter third-up and further out in trip, she might not be offered a better opportunity than this.

RACE 2 - 1:25PM: Schweppes Handicap (1250m)

Just four of the eleven confirmed starters in Race 2 have previous experience and there are plenty of debutants prominent in betting.

I am happy to stay out of this race from a betting perspective.

RACE 3 - 2PM: James Squire Handicap (1250m)

Imperial Force showed plenty of ability on debut and can break his maiden at Canterbury on Wednesday.

The Chris Waller-trained colt trialled well in the lead-up to his debut and worked home nicely to finish second behind Hezdarnhottoo.

With natural improvement and even luck from the wide barrier, he can begin his rise through the grades.

RACE 4 - 2:35PM: Headwater At Vinery Stud Handicap (1550m)

This is an excellent midweek metro race with some serious talent engaged, including Huesca.

Huesca returned to action with a nice performance to finish fourth, beaten less than two lengths by Marble Arch in BM78 company at Sandown last month, before working home well again to only just miss behind Green Shadows.

Fitter third-up and getting further out in trip this week, he's primed to strike.

  BET NOW: Canterbury Race 4

RACE 5 - 3:10PM: Cylinder @ Darley Handicap (1900m)

Natural Deduction takes winning form into this contest and is primed to make it two in a row under James McDonald.

The three-year-old gelding dusted off the cobwebs with a fine performance to fill the minors in Class 1 company at Hawkesbury last month, and enjoyed plenty of improvement into a dominant win over a mile at his latest.

This is another rise in class, but he's open to further improvement, and it does look the next logical target for him.

RACE 6 - 3:45PM: Robrick Lodge Handicap (1250m)

I'm keen to give Balkans another chance at nice odds at Canterbury this afternoon.

Balkans ran into trouble and some classy opposition at Wyong last month, but his form prior to that was promising, and including a near miss in BM72 company at Rosehill.

I like that he has been back to the trials since his last start, and we can have an each way play at his current price ($8 at publish).

RACE 7 - 4:20PM: Yarraman Park Handicap (1100m)

Another excellent race that is full of genuine Saturday metro talent, including Gold Revolver.

Gold Revolver returned to action with a sharp performance and win in BM72 company at Rosehill, and he franked that effort with another comfortable victory in a similar race at Randwick-Kensington.

A big weight is the knock, but he takes further improvement into this race and will be tough to beat again.

  BET NOW: Canterbury Race 7

RACE 8 - 4:55PM: Benchmark 72 Handicap (1100m)

Wide-open race and a tough one to analyse from a betting perspective; it's $8 the field at publish.

Impulsivity faces a rise in class, but she has returned to the races in good form, and she does look up to something of this quality.

The Russian Revolution filly has won two of three starts back from a break, highlighted by her strong on-pace performance at Newcastle last time out.

She can go straight to the lead again and will be in it for a long way, and she's another whom we can have something on each way.
