3 minute read

A seven-race card has been assembled at Warwick Farm this Wednesday, and there is enormous value to be found.

Wet weather earlier in the week sees the track rated a Soft 7 at publish with the rail out 3m across the circuit.

We've run the rule over the entire meeting and offer our best bets below.

RACE 1 - 12:50PM: HYLAND RACE COLOURS HANDICAP (1100 METRES)

Private Life found the outside into the straight on debut at Canterbury three weeks ago where he was unlucky not to run a place.

Chris Waller's colt had work to do that day from wider out but does draw a more favourable assignment on this occasion from barrier three.

James McDonald sticks, and with better luck in running this time, the pair should be finishing even stronger.

RACE 2 - 1:25PM: RANVET HANDICAP (1600 METRES)

Little Jeanie started a hot favourite third-up at Canterbury last month where she drew clear to win her maiden by 1.5 lengths.

The Savabeel filly made it look easy down the outside part of the straight, shifting through the gears in style thanks to a patient ride under James McDonald.

She's just over a month between runs now, but with a trial between starts, the slight rise to the mile shouldn't prove much of an issue for this progressive three-year-old.

RACE 3 - 2:00PM: PRECISE AIR HANDICAP (1600 METRES)

Time Quest should find conditions to suit ahead of his fourth run back.

Matthew Smith's gelding failed to fire just under two months ago on the Kensington track, finishing down the order in a similar contest over a touch shorter.

The British import returned a place in his previous two attempts though, and draws to do no work along the inside with Zac Lloyd in the saddle.

Proven fresh with a trial between starts, he should be making amends.

No. 3 Time Quest

RACE 4 - 2:35PM: NATIVE TRAIL @ DARLEY HANDICAP (2130 METRES)

Vadamos Queen saw her run of placings snapped a couple of weeks ago at Newcastle where she weakened late in the run home.

Annabel Neasham's Kiwi raider was dropping back slightly in trip after finding the line for second at Kembla Grange the start prior where she had plenty of excuses down the straight.

There's no knock on her fitness deep into her prep with big room for improvement in her first start at her home base.

RACE 5 - 3:10PM: MAURICE AT ARROWFIELD HANDICAP (1100 METRES)

Perennial has mixed his form in town over the last couple of months since claiming his third win at Newcastle in February.

By Japanese Group 1 winning sire Mikki Isle, this lightly-raced three-year-old was placed in a Highway at Randwick two back, stepping out off a six-week break in his latest assignment where he finished midfield from a difficult gate.

This is a nice step back in grade with the claim put to good use, and he should get a dream run from the soft draw.

RACE 6 - 3:45PM: STAR TURN @ VINERY STUD HANDICAP (1100 METRES)

Storm The Ramparts could be in for a nice prep if he can build on his runner-up effort first-up at Kensington.

The three-year-old by Headwater stuck to the task and gave good chase once clear, finishing within 1.5 lengths of the smart Jedibeel over slightly shorter.

This boy has found the money in both starts second-up from a spell and gets the blinkers on again from a handy gate.

Suited by the wet conditions with Josh Parr proven in the saddle, he ticks a few important boxes.

RACE 7 - 4:20PM: TAB HANDICAP (1300 METRES)

Defining has cashed a cheque in all three starts on her home track, adding to her record two weeks ago in heavy conditions over the same trip.

Annabel Neasham's mare has tends to give an honest effort on most occasions and is likely to find this another winnable assignment from barrier three.

Likely to appreciate some sting out of the track with Jason Collett on board, look for the pair to land off the pace in the hopes of saving something for the finish.
