Wild And Proud was acquired by new owners last week after disappointing in the Hawkesbury Gold Cup (1600m) on November 8.

The Snowland four-year-old arrived at David Pfieffer’s Warwick Farm base late last week and will be sent to the spelling paddock this afternoon.

“He was in the stables for a few days just having the farrier, chiropractor and vets take a look at bits and pieces and he goes to the paddock today,” Pfieffer said.

“He will probably have a nice eight week break.

“I will go check him out in the paddock in about a months time to see what I think and go from there.”

Formerly trained by Gai Waterhouse, Wild And Proud has raced 14 times with his best result a victory in the Group 2 Hobartville Stakes (1600m) last autumn.

The gelding has been placed at stakes level an additional four times.

Pfieffer is hopeful Wild And Proud can build on that record under his care and already has a Group 1 goal in mind for the talented galloper.

“He will be readied for the winter,” Pfieffer said.

“His best form is on wet tracks and I’ll shape him towards something like the Stradbroke and we’ll try and place him in races that are winnable along the way.”
