Los Skybo won on Launceston Cup day at Mowbray in February and then went to Victoria to win a race at Moonee Valley.

She returned to racing in Tasmania with an emphatic win in a C4 over 1220m in Launceston resulting in Scott Brunton outlining plans to tackle feature races over the Tasmanian summer carnival with a first-up crack at the $150,000 Bow Mistress over 1200m at Elwick on Derby Day (February 3) the first priority.

Brunton said after Sunday’s win that Los Skybo would be put away and not be seen at the races again until the Bow Mistress.

“She races best when fresh so that’s it for her until the Bow Mistress,” Brunton said.

Los Skybo won by only a narrow margin on Sunday but there was a lot of merit in her strong finishing victory.

She was allowed to race handy to the pace by rider Anthony Darmanin but became pocketed midrace and had to to barge her way into the clear.

Once the mare had clear racing room she stormed home to grab race leader Good Boy Robert in the last stride.

The Bruntons have also earmarked the Bow Mistress for Buzzing Along and those plans remain unchanged despite he last start failure in Launceston.
