WYONG: Gary Harley's Last Word

3 minute read

Magic Millions Day at Wyong on Thursday and the acceptances for the Wyong Magic Millions 2YO Classic and Wyong Magic Millions 3YO Stakes are arguably the best in history of the Wyong events.

The 2YO is oozing with quality headed by Gai Waterhouse’s impressive filly Certitude and the dual Rosehill winner Regimental Pride.

Certitude’s only start resulted in a victory at Rosehill on November 24. She raced in second place to the final 200-metres where she careered away to win by 5 lengths.

The Not a Single Doubt filly has drawn ideally in barrier 3 and Tommy Berry, who rode her at Rosehill, will be aboard again.

There is a huge rap on Calcatta and she is one of the favourites to win the Gold Coast Magic Millions. In her only start at Moonee Valley on November 30 she ran down Itameri to win by a nose. Top Victorian jockey Dwayne Dunn will fly in to ride the filly.

Regimental Pride, a son of the brilliant Regimental Gal, has finished powerfully winning his past two at Rosehill and he has the rails barrier and James McDonald.

Newcastle filly Dream Forward is above average and trialed brilliantly at Broadmeadow in preparation for her first start.

Gai Waterhouse a strong supporter of Wyong Magic Millions day has a golden opportunity landing the feature double on Thursday. She saddles up Certitude in the 2YO Classic and odds-on favourite Driefontein in the $100,000 3YO Stakes.

Tommy Berry will ride both fillies and he has a great association with Driefontein. The latter boasts stakes earnings of $1.4million and won the 2012 Gold Coast Magic Millions on protest.

Driefontein missed the start in the Golden Slipper and only went down by 3.6 lengths. She has the benefit of two recent barrier trials.

Port Macquarie filly Rebel Dancer is smart and could finish in the money while Nowra-trained Shivarchi is unbeaten and he was most impressive at Gosford two weeks back.
