Dissident contests the Group 1 Golden Rose on Saturday off a pair of seconds so far this campaign in The Rosebud (1200m) and The Run To The Rose (1200m).

The Sebring colt is currently a $15 quote in early Golden Rose markets behind race favourite Prince Harada.

“I think he looks a leading contender,” Clark told Sky Sports Radio.

“He’s had the two runs and will be at his peak third up.

"He's coming on and the 1400m is going to suit him.

“I’ve really seen that he’s come on a lot since his first run and second run. Blinkers have helped as well.

“So hopefully it will be third time lucky in Sydney.”

Dissident will be Tim Clark’s fourth ride in a Golden Rose and profiles as the jockeys’ best chance to date having so far ridden outsiders Turffontein [2008], Military Gal [2009] and Gybe [2010].

“I think I’m on the right horse,” Clark said.

"He’s a lovely colt and has got plenty of ability.

“He should’ve won the other day [Run To The Rose] but got held up.

“If he had of been able to get out when I wanted to he goes on to win the race easily, and be one of the favourites here.”

Clark’s main concern surrounds Dissident’s awkward barrier of 14 in the 17 horse field.

“It’s just going to be difficult with the wider gate,” Clark said.

“Hopefully they go a bit too hard up in front and they can set up something for him to finish off.

“He’s pretty versatile.

“I haven't spoken to Peter [Moody] yet but we'll obviously come up with a plan. I assume he would be trying to get him midfield somewhere.”

Dissident will be part of a dual pronged attack in the Golden Rose for leading trainer Peter Moody with stablemate Thermal Current also taking his place in the Group 1 feature.

Thermal Current is quoted at $18 in early markets after finishing third behind Golden Rose rivals Fast “N” Rocking and Prince Harada in the Group 3 McNeil Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield.

The Exceed And Excel colt will jump from barrier 8 and be ridden by Brad Rawiller.

Tim Clark has two other rides at Rosehill on Saturday, Somepin Anypin in the Group 2 Sebring Sprint (1400m) and Pelicano in the Group 3 Kingston Town Stakes (2000m).
