Saturday’s Tattersall’s Tiara at Eagle Farm will be largely made up of interstate raiders in what is the final Group 1 of the season.
With the early scratching of Griante, 16 will contest the Group 1 Tattersall’s Tiara (1400m).
The field is mostly comprised of Sydney-based fillies and mares with Chris Waller to saddle up a trio spearheaded by defending champion Red Tracer.
The reliable mare was unlucky last start in the Stradbroke Handicap (1400m) where she finished tenth after settling back and wide.
Red Tracer a fortnight later will need luck in running having drawn barrier 14.
Stablemates Catkins and She’s Clean have drawn barriers 1 and 12 respectively.
Gai Waterhouse entrants Driefontein and Cosmic Endeavour should each enjoy charmed runs up near the speed from barriers 2 and 5 respectively.
Having trained 2012 Tattersall’s Tiara winner Pear Tart, John Thompson has Peron in the 2014 renewal who is the only runner with genuine ties to Queensland having spent most of her career racing in the Sunshine State.
There is an early scratching with Racing Queensland stewards advising that Griante has been withdrawn on veterinary advice.
