3 minute read

Trainer John Sargent’s autumn hopes have suffered another setback with confirmation that his Group winning mare Neena Rock has been retired.

A dual G3 winner, Neena Rock was distressed after she finished last in the G3 Guy Walter Stakes at Warwick Farm last Saturday.

Sargent confirmed that the six-year-old, the winner of five races from 20 starts, would be retired and offered for sale as a broodmare.

She will be entered for the Inglis Australian Broodmare Sale in Sydney in May.

The former Kiwi mare has won $206,053 prize money with wins in the G3 Cuddle Stakes in NZ and G3 Angst Stakes in Sydney her career highlights.

Her retirement is the second blow to Sargent’s autumn team with his VRC Oaks winner Kirramosa ruled out last week after suffering another injury setback.
