Chris Scholtz reviews Sydney barrier trials at Rosehill on February 11.
ROSEHILL February 11
Inside Grass; Good 4
17 Heats – 5 x 1030m (3 Open; 2 Maiden); 12 x 900m (5 2YO; 2 Open; 3 3YO; 2 Maiden)
A number of classy Group horses were scattered through the open and 3YO heats. They shared the spotlight with some classy 2YOs who are high in considerations for the big autumn races.
HAUT BRION HER (Chris Waller); Top class mare is ready for a big autumn. Her 900m heat win in fast time (53.91; 33.92) over another top shelf sprinter DIRTY WORK was outstanding work as she pulled her way to the front after 200m, allowed the runner-up to rail underneath her turning for home to take a clear lead and then had James McDonald swinging against her as she reeled him in with ease for a narrow but impressive win. This is strong trial form.

VOWMASTER (Chris Waller): This is one classy 3YO sprint prospect. Unbeaten in two Victorian starts late last year, he is ready to make a big mark on the autumn carnival after an arrogant six lengths win in the fastest 900m heat of the morning (53.79; 34.41). Took up the running with ease after 150m and oozed class as he effortlessly opened up a big break on the chasers over the last 400m with Tommy Berry sitting cold in the saddle.
"He's a smart three-year-old, isn't he!"

The unbeaten Vowmaster makes a big statement with a runaway trial win at @rosehillgardens on Thursday from Intole Rant and Rainbow Connection in 53.79, faster than the open class sprinters.@tabcomau @7horseracing pic.twitter.com/UEdf5ppwOH
Other notable Group horses to impress with wins in the open heats included KING'S LEGACY, I AM SUPERMAN and EDUARDO while OCEAN EMPEROR, DOUBTLAND and NAJMAH were very good in the 3YO heats.

In the 2YO heats all eyes were on the clash of Magic Millions Classic winner SHAQUERO with the boom colt REMARQUE in their 900m heat (54.30; 34.75). They split the line together and fair to say honours were even - SHAQUERO was on pace from the jump and was never put under pressure when challenged by other runners while REMARQUE went back from the start and showed his class with his strong work over the last 100m.
Nothing between a couple of smart colts and major #GoldenSlipper chances as Shaquero holds on from a charging Remarque with Tiger Of Malay third in a trial at @rosehillgardens on Thursday. @tabcomau @7horseracing pic.twitter.com/dM7phnrPZZ

John Sargent's Snitzel filly FOUR MOVES AHEAD was another well regarded early season 2YO winner to work strongly in her heat for a solid win (54.87; 34.77) while trial watchers will be eager to be with the unraced pair TATTLETALE and CLEMENCEAU when they are produced after their impressive heat wins.

CLEMENCEAU (Team Hawkes): Capitalist colt confirmed the promise he displayed in his first trial win at Warwick Farm on February 1. Always had control of his 900m heat to record a fast 54.01 (34.81) and had plenty in reserve holding off the experienced DIRECT – a placegetter at Moonee Valley at his only start – with a big gap to the rest.
TATTLETALE (Matt Dunn): Spill The Beans filly has come on well from two good country trials at the start of the season. She has plenty of natural speed and her eagerness to run saw her open up a good lead turning for home and stride freely over the last 200m for a soft 4.3 lengths win (54.43; 34.75). The quality filly SHE'S ALL CLASS settled back and wide and did all that was required to work nicely into third over the last 200m without being asked for a serious effort.
