Kavanagh spends big, Snitzel colt fetches $300,000

Aquis Farm’s Tony Fung Investments paid the top price of $300,000 for a Snitzel colt on the opening day of the Adelaide Magic Millions Yearling Sale.

The colt from Japanese mare Cross Amulet comes from the same family as 2014 Caulfield Cup winner Admire Rakti and was one of two TFI purchases after picking up a Rebel Raider colt from Brindabella, a half-sister to Aagas and Sagaab, for $130,000.

Former Adelaide trainer Mark Kavanagh was a prolific buyer with eight purchases for a total of $715,000.

Kavanagh, who enjoyed plenty of success form the Adelaide sale which includes the likes of Catapulted, Undoubtedly, Divine Madonna and Maldivian, paid solid money for four lots including $160,000 for a Russian Revolution filly, $150,000 for a Trapeze Artist colt out of Berry Delicious, $140,000 for Written Tycoon filly and $120,000 for a Winning Rupert filly.

Leading Morphettville trained Will Clarken added two colts and three fillies to his stable paying $160,000 for a Toronado filly, $100,000 Smart Missile filly and $95,000 for a daughter of Divine Prophet.

Fellow Morphettville trainer Leon Macdonald picked up two youngsters from Willow Grove Stud, an All Too Hard colt for $120,000 and an Impending filly for $100,000 before spending another $100,000 on an Impending colt from Mill Park Stud.

Another former Adelaide trainer Lloyd Kennewell struck early paying $100,000 for Lot 3, a colt by Savabeel, before paying $150,000 for a Fastnet Rock colt in conjunction with Group 1 Bloodstock.

Other highlights were a half-brother to the talented Struck By making $135,000 for Ducatoon Park in Kadina.
