Long-standing Hawkesbury trainer Garry Frazer is never one to make rash statements.

So when he offers a special comment about his home track debut winner Yankees today, there's no argument.

"I don't think I've had a better sort of two-year-old," Frazer said this evening.

"Yankees is a magnificent filly, and most importantly she can gallop.

"She is still learning what it's all about and is going to be allright."

Frazer wasn't on course to see Yankees  (Alysha Collett) beat older horses in the Provincial & Country Maiden Plate (1000m) as he has been off colour, and watched from home as his son Jordan did the honours.

Understandably, he took special pleasure from the result as Yankees is the second horse in his stable from his former mare Mine Two, a lightly-raced daughter of outstanding sire I Am Invincible.

Mine Two  was a Sydney two-year-old winner and also placed at Group 3 in her initial season.

Yankees (by American Pharoah) is Mine Two's third foal, and stablemate, four-year-old Toronado gelding Tocomah, is her first.

And that's where Frazer got a good guide as to his filly's first-up prospects today.

"Yankees galloped with Tocomah the other morning and had the wood on him," he said.

"Tocomah  is a fast horse, so it was really good work.

"I couldn't believe the odds about her. They were certainly overs."

Starting at $13, Yankees downed Pokerjack  ($3.40) and fellow Hawkesbury representative, Team Kearney's Ma's Dream ($7.50).

Yankees is yet another winner who races in the famous White colours of white, purple star and hooped sleeves, and Frazer was delighted Greg and Jodie White were on course to see their filly make a successful debut.

"They haven't been to the races for quite some time, and it was good to win for good people," he said.
